About Sarah
I am a 33-year-old woman living in Aarhus, and have a background as a clothing designer. For as long as I can remember, I have had the urge to express myself creatively, and this is where I find my inner peace, and where I feel most comfortable.
After the birth of my daughter in autumn 2022, and a subsequent PTSD diagnosis and period of illness, I picked up the brushes and spatulas again after a break of several years. I needed to find myself again.
The many years in the clothing industry with thousands of different textiles in my hands gave me the desire to try to combine my two great passions.
The calm that sitting and working with a work gives me is now what I strive to reproduce and pass on. The soft shapes that textiles give when they curl, fold and slide across a canvas are, for me, the biggest source of inspiration.
Textiles can give so many impressions. An example could be snuggling up in a freshly washed duvet, which for me is one of the best sensory experiences in everyday life. And can that feeling get onto a canvas? That's how the "sunday" series started, and at the same time Artful Layers.
About Artfullayers
Artful Layers started as a hobby business, with the aim of not only creating wall art, but with the possibility of expanding the concept to also include different types and forms of art in the long run. I dream of artist collaborations across industries, and have many goals and ambitions for the future.
No two works of art are alike, as everything is made by hand, and with materials that are allowed to move as they please. All works are also numbered and signed.
All canvases and frames are locally produced in Aarhus, as it is important to me to support small businesses in the local environment. I love to explore and challenge myself along the way, and I am enormously grateful for your reception and commitment already!
